In Response to Dalton Sherman's speech
Do You Believe In Me?
1. I think Dalton Sherman is a good speaker, mainly because he knew how to address his audience and he spoke with power and confidence.
2. He had quite a few good traits as a speaker. For one he had very clear and defined pronunciation, and he got the crowd excited. Really I can't think of something bad he did during the speech.
3. He ham sandwiched that speech so hard, it was like a buffet of ham sandwiches. I think he made his points clearer, his voice clearer, and his audience more involved when he spoke so strongly.
4. I think that his gestures kept him looking natural and more confident, even if he was nervous or if he stumbled over some words I didn't notice it because I was paying attention to his body movements almost through the whole speech.
5. I have no doubt they picked this young man as their keynote speaker because he had an extremely unique and relatable viewpoint to the strong message they wanted to convey.
6. The main point of his message was to inspire faculty and teachers to believe in one another and their students. This is an important message because often teachers can forget what an influence they have on their students lives.
7. The message was very sincere and I would hope the teachers not only believed it but were inspired by it. I think it did inspire them, by the sound and view of the audience they were very inspired by his speech. I for one would have been very inspired, just seeing a young man speak like that gives you more confidence in him and his classmates.
Dalton's message was very down to earth and it drew me in. I think just because of his age it made him seem to be a better speaker. This message was very powerful, and because he was a student I believe it made it even more so to the teachers and faculty in the audience. His ability to put the message out there in such a simple way showed me that too often we try to over complicate speaking. I think that this was the key to his inspiring message. If I was a teacher I would have been inspired by this speech, in fact after hearing this I was persuaded to move to Dallas just to teach Dalton and his classmates and I am not even conside.
